RE: Smoking a turkey this weekend

Well thanks everyone for the advice. The turkey was awesome. I also did a goose at the same time and everyone loved it also. I smoked it at 250 degrees for 6 hours and it was great. I actually wrapped it in foil for the last 3 hours and it came out real moist. I'll always use an overnight brine from now on!!!

RE: Smoking a turkey this weekend

What is misquit? For cooking time, try 30 minutes per pound. Are you going to brine your bird? Okay, LOL Mesquite...I think:o

Smoking a turkey this weekend

This labor day the DW wants ne to smoke a turkey and a buddy has a goose he also wants smoked. I've smoked all kinds of meat but never a turkey. What's a good timeline for how long a 12 lb turkey should be in the smoker?? I plan on using hickory instead of misquit since I heard it's great for poultry.

I put canned pototo's in the crock pot with my corned beef. The juice gives the taters a great flavor
